A little quantification for ya

'Frack' of the Day: Each hydrofracking well contaminates conservatively 5 million gallons of water with toxic chemicals in the gas harvesting process. In the coming decades, there are designs to place some 400,000 wells to tap the Marcellus Shale bed underlying New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. That's 2 TRILLION gallons of contaminated water.

Buffalonians, that's Niagara Falls running uninterrupted for 38 DAYS.
Syracuse folks, that amounts to more than 57 Onondaga Lakes. On the bright side, it probably wouldn't seem so polluted anymore.
